Lisa Pidgeon, Director and Arts for Health Practitioner
I come from a long line of creative people. My mother was a talented tailor, my grandmother a seamstress, and countless aunts and numerous relatives were in the textile industries, as framework knitters, weavers and dyers. I feel stitch and woolcraft is in my blood!

My previous professional background is in healthcare. I am a trained and experienced nurse with a certificate in counselling studies, a degree in Health Studies, and extensive academic clincial research experience. I have also worked on a voluntary basis with the homeless in Harlem NYC. I am particularly interested in the use of Art and Craft activities to positively affect health and wellbeing. I feel I am in the unique position of being able to combine my extensive healthcare training and experience, with the Art and Craft activities which I am passionate about.

Currently, I run sessions at the Little Bird SOS studio at Greenacres and for arts organisations on a freelance basis, as well as project based work, around Leicester and Leicestershire.

Additionally, when I have time, I make and exhibit my own work locally and nationally, which I often make from recycled textiles. I firmly believe that art and craft activities enrich peoples lives and help make them more rounded and healthier human beings.
