Blackcap - hand dyed with oak galls and iron on pure alpaca yarn - DK
Hand dyed in Leicestershire
Our yarns are hand dyed with natural botanical materials. Blackcap has been dyed using oak galls, foraged from Charnwood Forest, and iron giving a lush organic brown grey tone that reminds us of the colouring seen in the Blackcap bird. This yarn has a super soft feel, with an excellent drape when knitted, that can be worn next to the skin.
Our yarns are colourfast and have been throughly rinsed after they have been dyed.

About this wool: This yarn has been sourced locally from Little Markfield Farm from an alpaca called Mario (see their picture above). The yarn has been professionally milled and spun to DK weight, which is slightly thinner than DK wool. Alpaca yarn has minimal levels of lanolin and is therefore favorable to people who are allergic to sheeps wool.
PLEASE NOTE: we are careful to represent the actual colours as best we can in the photographs it is not always possible to match exactly. Also due to the nature of natural dyes there may be slight variability between batches.
